Self-Destructive Behavior

Every person is divided between a part of themselves that is on their own side and an internal enemy or “anti-self” that does not operate in the person’s own interest. When the self-critical thoughts perpetuated by one’s anti-self start to dominate or color a person’s thinking, they can lead that person to engage in self-destructive behavior. This behavior can range from sabotaging a meaningful relationship to actual violence against oneself. Here you can learn what drives self-destructive behavior and how you can take on this internal enemy to live free of this harmful inner critic. This section further addresses the subject of suicide prevention, outlining warning signs and helper tasks that can help save a life.
