Sexuality

When we are sexually intimate — experiencing our loving feelings on both a physical and emotional level — we are making the closest contact possible with another person. It is during these times, when we are the most open and vulnerable, that a self-critical part of our minds known as the “critical inner voice” can be activated and can become especially aggressive. It is important to identify how we might turn against our sexuality by listening to negative thoughts toward ourselves and our partners. When we challenge these defensive and destructive thoughts, we can change the behaviors that cause the spark to fade or our sexual relationships to deteriorate.
