Although one in five clinical psychologists loses a client to suicide in the course of their clinical career, only 48 percent of all graduate programs in clinical psychology offer any formal training in assessing the risk of suicide and the treatment of suicidal patients. This means that there is a clear need for more extensive training at the post-doctoral level in the management and treatment of suicidal patients. This Webinar provides an in-depth understanding of the dynamics operating in suicide. The most recent research on assessment, crisis management and treatment will be presented. Clinicians who have enhanced their skills in treating clients who are potentially self destructive will be able to provide a higher quality of care.

1. List the psychiatric, psychological and social risk factors associated with suicide.
2. Identify clients negative thought patterns and attitudes that influence self-destructive and suicidal behavior.
3. Select assessments crisis interventions and case management strategies for suicidal patients.
